Phil HellmuthPhil Hellmuth Jr. is a very famous and acclaimed poker player. Phil ranks among the most successful poker players of his time. Phil is a nine-time winner at the World Poker Series. Rather, he has won more money at poker tournaments than any other player has in the last decade.

Phil Hellmuth Jr. was born in Madison, Wisconsin on July 16, 1964. His interaction with poker started in 1985 while at the University of Wisconsin. After three years at the University, Phil dropped out to play poker full-time. He later became the youngest player to win the world series of poker in 1989 by defeating johnny chan, two-time defending champion. Phil was just 24 at that time.

Phil has many accomplishments in the poker world to his credit. He has won ten WSOP bracelets as of 2006 in Texas hold’em events. His total live tournament winnings as of 2006 are more than US$8,325,000. In an event before the World Series of Poker 2006, he was in the last two. Thereafter, he managed to win his tenth WSOP bracelet with rebuys event in the US$1,000 No Limit Hold'em. It was a tie with other poker greats Johnny Chan and doyle brunson.

Phil Hellmuth has written Poker Brat, an autobiographical book containing lots of poker advice. He has written many articles like Bad Beats and Lucky Draws, Play Poker like the Pros, and The Greatest poker hands ever Played. He also has many instructional videos to his credit like Phil Hellmuth's Million Dollar Poker Secrets. Phil also appears in promotional commercials for the Arena Football League. He has helped develop signature series of poker style sunglasses and a clothing line too.

Phil does lot of charity work too. He takes part in numerous events. He has been on several podcasts related to poker. He often does the job of a commentator by relating the live action at the poker tables. However, Phil Hellmuth has a specific attitude and ego problem. Despite his numerous accomplishments, people remember him more for his eccentrics and bad-mouthing. He is also popular as ‘poker brat.’
